FAQ
Answers to common questions about visits, insurance and records.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral to become a new patient?
It depends on your insurance plan. Medicare and many PPO plans do not require one; HMO plans usually do. Call us with your plan name and we will confirm your benefits before you book.
Can I be seen for a same-day sick visit?
Yes, we hold slots for same-day and next-day sick visits. Call us early in the morning and we will tell you what is open. For anything severe — chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of a stroke — call 911 or go to the emergency department instead.
Which insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most major plans including Medicare, Medicaid, Healthfirst, EmblemHealth, Aetna, Cigna, Oxford, MetroPlus, Fidelis and HIP. In-network status varies by plan, so please call with your plan name so we can verify.
Do you offer same-day lab work and testing?
Yes. We do blood work, cholesterol, liver and kidney panels, and breathing (pulmonary function) testing on site. Some results are available the same day, and we will contact you about the rest.
Where can I park, and how do I get here by train?
There is street parking on Cortelyou Road and the surrounding blocks. The Q train at Cortelyou Road station is a short walk from the office.
Do you offer telehealth visits?
For established patients with routine follow-up questions, yes. Telehealth is limited by New York State rules, and certain conditions require an in-person visit. Ask us when you call.
